It’s been a super long process and my new website is a work in progress…yet I’ve officially changed my name and “moved” to Memories Aquatic. I found my niche and it’s being in the water. If bright colors, the beach, and adventure are your thing- send me an email at email@example.com! I’m also up for taking people on short hikes with amazing views and then going down to the water. Customize your photography experience with me and let’s have fun!
I’ll be shutting down www.shannonforbesphotography.com and eventually changing my Facebook Fanpage to Memories Aquatic. This also means that my old email address will eventually no longer work. (I’m giving it two more weeks!) Thanks for being patient! I’m not a computer person and putting this all together has taken quite a bit of time.
Here is me at the beginning of our trip to Waimanu Valley back in May!

Joanna and Jabar are originally from California and are living what I’d like to say is the HI life. No, no one is high on drugs but most everyone here is high on the ALOHA life. J-squared, (Joanna+Jabar), are the epitome of what it means to live in Hawaii. They are laid back, enjoy being in the ocean, and most importantly, they don’t take Hawaii for granted. We swam out at one of my favorite surf spots on the island and encountered turtles, a pretty strong current, and crystal clear water. Check out this adorable wet couple!
This photo below is a personal favorite. I know most won’t like it but I LOVE LOVE LOVE this photo. To me, this is art.
I believe that underwater photos are the most perfect way to express your Hawaii lifestyle. Seriously. These are more than fun and even if you are a little nervous about being in the ocean you will forever cherish these moments.

May Day is Lei Day in Hawaii Nei. I saw so many photos last year of this and wanted to participate this year! I am so glad to have my friend, B, willing to be my model within a short notice. She’s a photographer too! More about B on an upcoming post! We stepped outside her house and into her backyard. That’s right, her beautiful backyard where turtles graze on an endless buffet of green stuff that hangs on the rocks and the water sloshes on the sand tirelessly. We put on our kinis and an intoxicating lei and proceeded to splash around in the clearest, cleanest, most beautiful water on Oahu! We saw a turtle too.
Check out the fun!

Most of my fellow islanders know what a fun yet dangerous place China Walls can be. Look away for a second and a big wave can knock you off into the water. If you do visit and decide to jump in, make sure that you are comfortable with the ocean, and are able to get out of the water quickly! Christina and Amy have been to China Walls before and decided this would be a fun place to “mermaid” in the ocean. I spent a fun evening enjoying the ocean with these ladies and hope to do it again! Love these girls.
Ocean conditions: A little murky and churned up. Weather: Cloudy until sunset.

If you’ve missed the past few posts of Jess and Dru’s engagement session – one at Hawaii State Library and the other at the Blue Tree Cafe, then fear not! Here are more of their adorable faces! Jess wanted balloons and the last picture is her idea and I absolutely love it! (Ryan and Jung-Eun, I haven’t forgotten if you are reading this!) The light was sporadic but I love how I got different I had so much fun working with these two. Engagement sessions are my absolute favorite.

Do you remember when you first started dating your significant other what you guys would do to be around each other and get to know one another? For Jess and Dru they would always meet up at coffee shops. What better way to get to know someone then talking over coffee. The Blue Tree Cafe is a few blocks down the street from where they live so we opted to shoot there because of the decor, window lighting, and their tasty beverages.

Joanna and Jabar (J-squared!) are such an amazingly sweet and fun couple. They decided to do their engagement session on a lovely and secluded beach on the North Shore. I’ve never seen a couple laugh so much and I can’t wait to work with them again for their underwater session! Meet these two love birds!

I absolutely love it when couples want something a little different or they have a special location in mind because it’s near and dear to their hearts. When Jess contacted me about her engagement photos it took a couple of messages back and forth and a very helpful Pinterest board that Jess created to make us both realize that a library or coffee shop would be perfect for them. While I do love shooting at the beach it’s fun to break out of that and go somewhere new! Thank you, Jess and Dru for allowing me to photograph your engagement photos and congratulations! Part one takes place at a library in Hawaii. Be on the lookout for part 2 and 3!

Bright, blue, happy, fun. Underwater photography is something that everyone can do! I love seeing Kaila and Emily smile and what better way then getting in the water at Wet’n'Wild Hawaii. Underwater sessions don’t just have to be all the way in the water and Kaila proved that you don’t even have to stick your head under in order to get really cute photos. Meet this lovely family who is very near and dear to me.

Oooooh! For the longest time I have wanted to photograph Heather….we met at Surf N’ Sea where she was the long standing cashier and I was a wee saleswoman! Best retail job ever except I didn’t take home a lot of money since I was around clothes…surf clothes at that! Before Heather left the island we finally hooked up for some photos at the beach. One by one my little Surf N’ Sea family has left the island and it makes me so sad but at the same time happy for them. Heather, I wish you the best of luck in everything you do! You are a super hard worker, have so much integrity, and once you set your mind to whatever it is you decide to do…I know you will be fantastic! Meet Heather!
